Understanding Dial Peers
The first thing we need to understand about voice technology is what's called a dial peer Dial Peers. Dial peer-entity explains entities to or from which a call ( "cell") is formed.
All voice technology will use a dial-peer in order to put the characteristics associated with the characteristics of the so-called call leg, YAGNI Distrit segment of a call connection that exists between the two connection points. On a line call end-to-end would diliatkan four cell namely:
- Dial cell perspectives leg of these sources (Source route)
- Dial cell leg of these perspectives destination (destination)
Dial peer function to apply a particular attribute to some cell leg and menidentifiksi to a cell-leg among others, various features of quality of service (QoS) for example IP Priority and IP Precedenvce, comression / decompression (codec), coice activity detection (VAD) and fax rate.

Broadly speaking, there are two different bsgian of dial peer on the implementation of voice:
Plain old telephone service (POTS):
Dial Peer is that describes the characteristics of traditional telepone peer network connection (POTS) leads to a voice port (voice ports) in a device specific voice network.
When we configure the POTS dial peer, several major orders were hasus configured are:
Port
And
Destination-pattern
Command dial peer port connects role PORTdengan certain logical dial interface, normally the voice port mengoneksikan (connecting) device local port Cisco kejaringan
Destination-pattern command
This command role assign a phone number that is connected to port POTS dial concerned.
Voice network (VoIP, VoATM, voFR):
The dial peer role describes the characteristics of the connection network packets, for example in the case of VoIP in the form of an IP network (IP Network)
